1 month GME Short Squeeze Hype Reddit

Is there anything that the really big money can do to defend against a short squeeze?

Everything I’ve seen only explains the situation for right now and portrays the major investing firms as being helpless to buy back their shorted shares at a loss to stop their value from its hemorrhaging and so jacking up the shares prices.

But is this absolutely true? Are there no other options for big money using their other capital, even if needing financing to accomplish, to make a play that drowns out and puts a stop to a potential short squeeze?

Are there any plays or options for big money to prevent a short squeeze? Everybody is describing the situation as if big money is completely helpless once a short squeeze occurs. Are they really?
