1 week Going in on The Gap Reddit

The Gap, which owns Banana Republic and Old Navy, just announced a partnership with Kanye West’s Yeezy design house. West will design adult and children’s clothing for the retailer, with production to take place in Wyoming, where Kanye is based.

The Gap has been a struggling retailer for a while now, much in the same way Adidas was struggling before they partnered with West to sell his Yeezy sneakers. Adidas stock increased from around $40 in 2015 to $130 in 2020. The partnership with Kanye gives The Gap a much needed injection of “cool” and may just open up the retailer to a broader, more urban market.

The Gap is currently sitting at $12.50, 26% down this year. The dividend yield is 8% according to my Stash app, $7 according to Google. Is this a no-brainer buy in some ways, even for an investing rookie?

Thoughts?
