4 weeks Question about capital gains tax Reddit

Let’s say I put 10k into a stock, and it jumps to 20k, and I want to just pull out 10k to cover my initial investment and leave the other 10k, do I have to pay capital gains tax on that 10k? Possibly a silly question but just want to be sure I understand, I’m leaning towards no. Thanks!
